R for regrets

If you were to tell me your biggest regret, it would tell me a lot about who you are. This is what I have heard and it may be true, as many of us do have regrets in our lives.

For me, I do love to ponder and think of my life as a whole, especially since the new year is around the corner. With a new year, a new me would need some self-examination as it is critical if we were to enter into the new year with wide-open arms. As well I am praying for covid to end and for the world to be at peace so that love ones may see and be with one another. =)

With pondering and self-examination, there come jolts of memory that make me question my exact thoughts and actions. “What was I thinking?!” cried out the little nay-slayer in me. Like many of us, we make mistakes in our lives. The mistakes may be trivial, small, or in some cases huge and affect certain aspects of our lives. If your life is wonderful and full of certainty and has no mistakes at all, I envy you really and hope that the rest of your life will be as filling and happy as always.

For those who do make mistakes, you may understand the place that I have maybe in, where memories flow continuously similar to the Niagara Falls along the borders of canada and America. The falls are really a beautiful place unlike the ones with my painful past. They call those painful past regrets. Oh, how i regret that cheesecake, that wave of a hand, that word I said to the waiter when he asked me to enjoy my meal.

Beautiful scene of Niagara falls

In all honesty, do visit Niagara falls at least once, it's a sight to behold, and it makes you tiny in the scheme of life… Oh, how small we humans truly are. As we go back to the train of thoughts on regrets, some regrets I have are painful to recounter or to even speak off. I’m only human as Ms Christina Perri would sing out loud to those who hear her, no one is ever perfect except you who I know nodding your head saying you have no regrets.

Yet, a few people do have those little pests, R for regrets. It's hard to let go of that thugging in your heart, that screentime it has when you start to travel to dreamland. I know and I have this wish sometimes to go to an era where I could really build a time machine, to redo all those mistakes that I have made with or without my conscience.

As we start this new year, let's all take some time to ourselves, some alone time if you would, to understand our fragile mortal yet strong body that has kept us alive to now. Relook at ourselves and learn from where we could become better and grateful human beings, more so one that shares love and kindness. Start with the man in the mirror as Micheal Jackson would say. How would the new you in the new year be? Would you stay the same contented, or would you push yourself, with those regrets and learn and accept who you truly are and love yourself even more? I wish the best to you readers and a very happy new year.
